Mailifide — Terms of Use

1. Agreement

These Terms govern the use of the Mailifide Mac application and its Mail extension (together, the "App"), published by Appfide Private Limited ("Appfide," "we," "us"). By downloading or using the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

The App is distributed through the Mac App Store, and your use of it, including the Scam Shield subscription, is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA). Where these Terms and the Standard EULA conflict, the Standard EULA prevails to the extent of the conflict.

Our handling of data is described in the Mailifide Privacy Policy.

2. What Mailifide Does

Mailifide works with the Mail app on your Mac through an extension you turn on in Mail ▸ Settings ▸ Extensions. Free account tags color or flag new incoming mail by the address it was delivered to. Scam Shield, an optional subscription, checks new mail for signs of phishing and can show a warning above a suspicious message. The App acts on new mail as it arrives; Check a Message lets you scan an email you already have. Some checks need a Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on. Features may change over time.

3. Scam Shield — Auto-Renewable Subscription

Scam Shield is an optional auto-renewable subscription, offered monthly and yearly. In the United States the prices are US$1.99 a month and US$14.99 a year. Prices vary by country, are set in your local currency by Apple, may include applicable taxes, and are shown in the App before you subscribe. Account tags are free and do not need a subscription.

  • Free trial. New subscribers get a one-month free trial. When it ends, the subscription starts automatically and your Apple ID is charged for the plan you chose, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends.
  • Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store account settings: on your Mac, open the App Store app, click your name, then Account Settings, and next to Subscriptions click Manage. Cancelling stops future renewals; Scam Shield stays on until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
  • We will tell you in advance of any price increase as Apple requires.

4. Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies. To request a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com. If something is not working, contact us first at [email protected] — we can often put it right.

5. Scam Warnings Are an Aid, Not a Guarantee

  • Scam Shield helps you spot scams, but it cannot catch every scam, and it can occasionally flag a genuine email. A message without a warning is not guaranteed to be safe.
  • You remain responsible for deciding whether to trust a message, open its links or attachments, or act on it. Never share passwords or payment details because an email asks you to.
  • If you mark a domain as trusted, Mailifide stops warning about mail from it.
  • If you choose to move likely scams to Junk, check your Junk mailbox for genuine messages.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to copy, resell or redistribute the App or its scam rules, and not to reverse engineer, tamper with or try to bypass the App's purchase system, or use automated means to access our servers.

7. Third-Party Services

The App relies on Apple (the Mac App Store, payments, the Mail app and Apple Intelligence) and, when domain checks are on, on DNS, rdap.org and the websites of the domains it checks. Their availability is outside our control, and their own terms apply to your use of their services.

8. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT IT WILL DETECT EVERY SCAM, PHISHING OR MALICIOUS MESSAGE. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, APPFIDE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA OR GOODWILL, INCLUDING LOSSES CAUSED BY A SCAM OR PHISHING MESSAGE THE APP DID NOT FLAG. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP AND IN-APP PURCHASES IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR INR 5,000, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

10. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete it at any time. We may end access if these Terms are breached or if we discontinue the App. If we discontinue the App, we will give reasonable notice where we can.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes will first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and otherwise by arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seated in Ernakulam, Kerala, India, in English. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws in the country where you live.
