Quran AI — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

1. About This Policy

This policy applies to the Quran AI mobile application for iOS and Android, published by Appfide Private Limited ("Appfide," "we," "us," or "our"), a company incorporated under the laws of India with its registered office at XXI/152 Panadans, Cochin University Post, Ernakulam – 682022, Kerala, India.

It sits alongside our company-wide Privacy Policy, which continues to govern our website and our other apps. Where the two differ, this app-specific policy prevails for Quran AI. Sections of the company policy that describe accounts, sign-in, profile data and web payment processing do not apply to Quran AI, because the app has none of those things.

2. In Short

  • No account and no sign-in. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
  • The Qur'an, translation, bookmarks, hifz progress, tasbih counts and your AI history are kept on your device.
  • Your location is used only on your device, to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
  • AI questions are sent to our server and to a third-party AI provider to produce the answer. Our server does not store them.
  • The app uses Google Firebase for analytics, crash reports and performance, and RevenueCat for subscriptions. RevenueCat also reports subscription events to Meta so we can measure our advertising (section 8).

3. No Account, No Sign-In

Quran AI does not have user accounts. You do not register, sign in, or give us your name, email address or phone number.

When you first open the app, it creates a random app user ID and keeps it in your device's secure storage (the Keychain on iPhone and iPad, and Android Keystore-encrypted storage on Android). It is not derived from your name, Apple ID, Google account or device. We use it to link your subscription to your installation, so that Restore purchases works, and as the user ID in our analytics and crash reports (section 8). On iPhone and iPad it stays in the Keychain if you reinstall the app; it is not synced to iCloud.

4. Location, Prayer Times and Qibla

  • The app asks for your location only when you tap the button to use it on the prayer times or Qibla screen. It reads it once, at medium accuracy, and does not track you in the background.
  • Prayer times and the Qibla direction are calculated on your device. The coordinates are saved on your device so the times stay correct, and your location is never sent to our servers or to any third party.
  • The Qibla compass uses your device's motion sensors, on the device only.
  • Prayer reminders are scheduled locally on your device. They are not push notifications and need no connection.

You can refuse or withdraw location permission at any time in your device settings; prayer times then cannot be calculated for your location.

5. Your AI Questions

When you ask the AI study companion a question, the app sends the question, the mode you chose (such as Tafsir or Word by Word), the answer depth, your app language and the translation you read in to our server over an encrypted connection. The request carries a short-lived session token, valid for up to one hour, which tells our server that your subscription is active.

  • We do not store your questions or answers. Our server passes the question to the AI provider and streams the answer back to you. It keeps no copy of either, and it keeps no record of the session.
  • Our logs do not contain your question. Request logs record the request path, the result and how long it took. For AI answers they also record the mode, language, depth, a random session identifier and the amount of text used. They do not record the question text or your IP address.
  • A copy stays on your device. Each question and answer is saved in the app so you can revisit it in History. You can delete any entry by swiping it away. Like other app data, it is included in your device backup if you use one.

Each question is sent on its own, without your earlier questions. Questions about religion can reveal your beliefs, so please do not include your name or other details about yourself in a question.

6. Answers Are Generated by AI

Answers are produced using artificial intelligence. To generate them, your question is shared with a third-party AI provider that acts as our processor. It receives the question and our instructions, but not your app user ID, your session token or anything else that identifies you. Under the terms that govern our use of that provider:

  • Your questions are not used to train AI models. Data sent through the provider's business interface is excluded from model training by default.
  • The provider may retain the content for up to 30 days solely to monitor for abuse and misuse of its service, after which it is deleted — unless a longer period is required by law.

The Qur'anic text is never generated by AI: every verse shown comes from the verified text bundled with the app. Answers can be incomplete or mistaken, and Quran AI is a study aid, not a substitute for a qualified scholar. Every answer has a Report button. A report is saved on your device; if you choose to email it to us, the email contains the question and answer you are reporting.

7. Data Kept on Your Device

The following stays on your device and is not sent to us: bookmarks and your last-read position, hifz progress and revisions, tasbih counts, your daily streak, prayer settings (location, calculation method, Asr method and reminders), your AI history and reports, and your settings (language, font size, translation and Hijri date adjustment). On Android, Google's Auto Backup includes this data if you have backup turned on; on iPhone and iPad it is included in your device's iCloud or computer backup like other app data. Uninstalling the app removes it from the device.

8. Analytics, Crash Reporting and Advertising

Quran AI includes Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring. They collect device and usage information, such as the device model, operating system version, app version, screens viewed, app opens, in-app purchase events, crash logs and performance measurements, together with your random app user ID. They do not receive your questions, your location or your Qur'an activity.

Subscriptions are managed through RevenueCat (section 9). RevenueCat receives your random app user ID, your purchase history, the Firebase app instance ID and device identifiers: on iPhone and iPad, the identifier for vendor (IDFV) and IP address; on Android, device identifiers that can include the Android advertising ID. To measure our advertising, RevenueCat sends subscription events — such as a free trial starting, a purchase, a renewal or a cancellation, with the product and price — to Meta (Facebook), together with these identifiers. RevenueCat also sends purchase events to Firebase Analytics.

The app does not ask for tracking permission on iPhone and iPad, so it never reads the advertising identifier (IDFA). On Android, you can delete or reset your advertising ID in your device settings. The app shows no ads.

9. Subscriptions

Quran AI Premium is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play, managed through RevenueCat. Apple or Google processes the payment; we never receive your card details. RevenueCat verifies your purchase and keeps your purchase history and subscription status linked to your random app user ID. When the app opens a session, our server asks RevenueCat whether your subscription is active; it does not store the answer or any purchase details. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

10. App Check

To keep our server for genuine copies of the app, the app uses Firebase App Check with Apple's App Attest (or DeviceCheck) on iPhone and iPad, and Google Play Integrity on Android. Our server reads only whether the request came from our app.

11. Who Receives Your Data

  • Our AI provider — your questions, to produce answers (sections 5 and 6).
  • Google — Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring and App Check, and Google Play for purchases on Android.
  • Apple — App Store purchases, App Attest and DeviceCheck on iPhone and iPad.
  • RevenueCat — subscription management (section 9).
  • Meta — subscription events sent by RevenueCat to measure our advertising (section 8).
  • Hosting providers that run our server.

We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data where the law requires it.

12. Data Retention

  • AI questions and answers: not stored by us; up to 30 days by our AI provider for abuse monitoring only.
  • Server logs (no question text, no IP address): kept only as long as we need them to run and troubleshoot the service.
  • Session tokens: valid for up to one hour and not stored on our server.
  • Location, history, bookmarks and other app data: kept on your device until you delete them or remove the app.
  • Subscription records at RevenueCat: kept while needed to provide your subscription and for financial and tax compliance.
  • Analytics and crash data: as described in our company Privacy Policy.

13. Your Rights

Most of your data is already under your direct control: deleting an entry from History, resetting a tasbih count, removing a hifz entry or removing the app deletes it from your device, and you can withdraw location permission at any time. We hold no account and do not store your questions, so there is nothing of that kind for us to return or erase.

Analytics, crash and subscription records are linked to your random app user ID. Where you are entitled under applicable law to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, to data portability, or to withdraw consent, contact us at quran@appfide.com. Because we hold no name or email to look you up by, please include the order or transaction ID from your App Store or Google Play receipt. We respond within 30 days, or sooner where the law requires it. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

14. Children

Quran AI is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact quran@appfide.com and we will delete it promptly.

15. Security and International Transfers

All connections between the app and our server, and between our server and its providers, are encrypted in transit. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including India, the United States and the European Union, where our servers and providers operate. We rely on appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses and data processing agreements, to protect it.

16. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date.
