Nija — Terms of Use
Last updated: 19 October 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms govern the use of Nija, the clipboard manager for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, Windows, Linux and Android (the "App"), published by Appfide Private Limited ("Appfide," "we," "us"), whether you install it from GitHub or from the App Store. By installing or using the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
How the App handles data is described in the Nija Privacy Policy.
2. Open-Source Licence
Nija's source code, and the builds we publish on GitHub Releases, are licensed under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify and distribute the software as that licence allows. Nothing in these Terms restricts the rights the MIT License gives you; where the two conflict for the source code or a GitHub build, the MIT License prevails.
The MIT License covers copyright in the software. It does not grant rights to the Nija name, the Nija icon or Appfide's names and logos. If you distribute a modified version, give it a name and icon that do not suggest it comes from or is endorsed by Appfide.
3. App Store Builds
The App Store edition for Mac, iPhone and iPad is a paid download, signed by Apple and updated automatically. Your use of that copy is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA). Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies at reportaproblem.apple.com. The App Store edition syncs with the GitHub builds.
4. The Database You Connect
Nija has no server of its own. To sync, it connects directly to a database you choose and provide, such as Supabase, PocketBase, CouchDB or IBM Cloudant, Firebase Firestore or MongoDB. That database is run by you or by a provider you picked, and its own terms, pricing and privacy policy apply. You are responsible for:
- the account, plan and any costs of the database and its provider;
- keeping the credentials you enter safe and scoping them with the access rules described in the setup guides;
- backups, retention and availability of that database.
We have no access to your database and cannot recover, restore or delete data in it for you.
5. Encryption, Keys and Devices
End-to-end encryption keys, passphrases and device keys are kept only on your devices. If every device in a group loses its key and you no longer know the passphrase, encrypted clips cannot be read again — not by you, and not by us. Pairing codes and admin keys control who can join and manage your group; keep them to devices you trust.
6. Acceptable Use
Use the App lawfully. Do not use it to record or collect another person's clipboard or data without their consent, and do not use the App or our name to mislead others about who made or endorses a copy of it.
7. Third-Party Services
The App relies on services we do not control: the database provider you pick, GitHub (source code, releases and the release list in the App) and Apple (the App Store). Their availability is outside our control, and their own terms apply to your use of their services.
8. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT SYNC WILL NEVER LOSE OR DELAY A CLIP. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, APPFIDE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA OR GOODWILL, INCLUDING DATA HELD IN A DATABASE YOU CONNECT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR INR 5,000, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date. Continuing to use a build we publish after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes will first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and otherwise by arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seated in Ernakulam, Kerala, India, in English. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws in the country where you live.
